Dragons
Dragons are also associated with the element of Fire, even though there are dragons of other elements, too. These beings of power and might are ancient wisdom-keepers. They can be called upon to bring healing magic into our daily lives and to be our spiritual guides and protectors.
Although dragons are seen these days as mythical creatures, in April 2013 the bones of a 18-metre-long (60 feet) dragon were discovered off the east coast of China’s Shandong province in the Yellow Sea. The Chinese have always respected the qualities that dragons have to offer and celebrated and honoured these noble and courageous beings. Sadly, the rest of the world has bought into the myths that have tarnished the dragon’s good nature. Throughout our history there have been stories of the brave setting forth on a quest to slay a dangerous dragon, which is always depicted as being full of anger and breathing destructive fire on all who stand in its path. In England, for example, the patron saint is George, who is celebrated every 23 April for slaying a dragon and freeing the people from its tyranny and aggression.
Sadly, tales such as these could not be further from the truth. As with so many stories that are told about beings from the elemental realm, we have been lured away from the hidden reality. This has been done purposefully in order to instil fear into us, so that we may not discover the actual healing properties of these very real creatures. Dragons withdrew from the third-dimensional world a long, long time ago because they could not stand its harsh energies, much like the unicorns did. Fortunately for us, they and their powers are easily accessed in the etheric realm, where they reside with the fairies and other magical beings of light.
Dragons are seen as being predominately of the element of Fire, so will assist in igniting our inner flame of passion, fuelling us to walk in our true light and fulfil our lifetime’s purpose with full might, vitality and vigour. But there are also dragons who are linked to the emotional element of Water and the inspirational element of Air, as well as those who serve as guardians of Earth-based spirituality and traditions such as Wiccan, pagan, druidic and shamanic practices.
